Women’s Week in Provincetown

The first time I heard about women’s week in Provincetown I was living in the UK, and it always worked out that I couldn’t go. For those who aren’t familiar with Ptown, it’s on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. For many years, I’d see posts on Facebook about lesfic authors and readers having a grand time, and I’m not ashamed to admit I was jealous.

Now that I’m living in Boston, I made a point of visiting during women’s week. Unfortunately, my writing schedule has been a bit insane, so I wasn’t able to go for the entire week (maybe someday), but I finally made it there for part of it.

Ptown is such a quaint little seaside town. The week is held in October, and I think that’s because during the summer, the place is packed. I’d been to the area way back in 2006, but this was my first time since then, and I’m a sucker for places like this. I think I purchased 2 or 3 T-shirts (I have a thing for touristy shirts) and fridge magnets.

While there, I popped into some Bold Strokes Books events. It’s always fun to catch up with writing friends and to make new ones.

And I finally got up the nerve to get my photo with Radclyffe.

All in all, I’m glad I finally carved out the time to get to Ptown during women’s week. The next LGBTQIA+ event I’m considering is Saints and Sinners in March in New Orleans. Has anyone been? Please let me know in the comments to help convince me to book flights and a hotel.
