I know it’s not technically Friday, but since it’s Thanksgiving tomorrow in the US, I decided to take a five-day weekend. And I need it. A little over a week ago, I moved from Dublin to London. To be blunt, I’m exhausted and a long weekend is exactly what the doctor ordered.

IT ALL STARTED WITH…
Life is a journey. Sometimes the road is smooth and effortless, sometimes it’s full of bumps and pot holes, but it always ends in the same place.
My journey has been full and fluid. I look at the bumps as challenges overcome and the road ahead as bright and wonderful. Some of my friends sigh and roll their eyes at my outlook, but I’ve always believed that life is what you make of it. That’s how I feel about my writing, as well.
When I wrote my first manuscript, I was so driven to get the words down that I failed to even put in chapter breaks. I just had to write it down. As you can guess, this sorry file of words never saw the light of day, but it led me to the next smooth section on my life’s road, my home at Bold Strokes Books.
My novels aren’t for everyone, if you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, you’ll love them. I do my best to create villains who make you cringe, but whose motivations make sense in a dysfunctional way. I want you to feel their angst and know why they do what they do. You won’t love them, but you’ll love hating them.
I write for me, there’s the simple truth. I see something strange, like a suitcase in a garbage can where it shouldn’t be, or a bag falling from a moving trailer and my mind starts going “what if?” Then I’m gone. I create the world and players in my head and let my imagination have free reign. It is a great feeling to bring that all into a book, to see my wild imagination brought to life on my computer screen.
Then my editor chimes in and what was fun and exciting becomes work. Hard, painful, but rewarding work. With the skillful help of my editor we mold my fantasy into a complex and vivid story that grabs the reader and won’t let go.
If you have the will and courage to read one of my books, you’ll know what I mean. I only ask that when you do, you remember that it all started with a bump or a dark hole or a black bag slipping from a moving trailer…
My latest release, Captured Soul, is set in New York, centering on the art world. I hope you’ll take a chance on it.
